Austin Navy Week

Free Concert at City Hall Plaza to Kick Off "Austin Navy Week"
On Tuesday, March 22, 2011, the U.S. Navy Band's premiere country and
blue grass music group, "Country Current", will play a free concert at
Austin City Hall's outdoor plaza at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate Austin Navy
Week. Mayor Lee Leffingwell will kick off the concert with a Navy Week
proclamation presented to The Honorable Juan Garcia III, Assistant
Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs. The public is
invited to attend the concert and meet the men and women serving in
today's Navy.

Country Current has performed with such artists as Boots Randolph,
Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill and David Ball; for heads of state and
foreign dignitaries including members of the G-8 Summit hosted by
President George W. Bush; the Grand Ol' Opry and the Coca-Cola 600
NASCAR race.

The band will perform at a variety of local venues during Navy Week,
including a South by Southwest showcase concert at Momo's Club,
Saturday, March 19.

Austin Navy Week runs March 19-26 with an array of mostly free,
family-friendly events and activities. Information about the events

Twenty-one Navy Weeks are scheduled in 2011 to show Americans the
investment they have made in their Navy by providing an opportunity to
meet Sailors face-to-face and learn about the Navy's critical mission
and its broad-ranging capabilities through community engagements.
